Safari Clothes for Kieth

A little refernce for me, to take into consideration of Kieths design. The clothes I think will hopefully bring put across what Kieth is and whats his passion. Well I at least think that people will know what Kieth is, it's quite obvious. However, to know the character and his passion has to be shown in drawing poses. Anyway next post will display some facial expressions, peace!

Silverback Goriilla

This footage is pretty cool, I always thought of gorillas as one one of those "Don't mess with me" types. I figured that since I'm taking into consideration of making a gorilla I might aswell get some for of reference for how they move and play. However to be honest, I think the ideas great but it's the modelling that am afraid of. But I will just have to wait and see, I have a habit of changing my mind a lot, I might decide to model one of the 3 bros so I'll just wait and see. Right, next I intend to do some concept work.

The Characters

Just to make sure I'm not being vague about my characters, I'll provide a description about them.

The Scotsman, Kieth hot biscuit mcgee : You know him from my previos post. He's the archeologist with a short fuse, who has a passion for tombs, ruins and anything that's ancient. He also becomes very serious when it comes to survival, however the funny thing about him is that he is narcopleptic, so he can fall asleep at any given moment yet resume talking straight away when he wakes up as though nothing happened. However under that fierce persona, lies a professional and an intelligent mind.

Jappa: Is a middle aged silver back gorrilla, with a Jamaican accent. An assisstant and friend of the scotsman, he is the polar opposite since him he always has grin on his face that says "Don't worry be happy". However his demonstration skills on various equipment isn't very helpful though, as the scotsman explains to the audience or should I say the camera, about how the equipment should be carried out, Jappa does the exact opposite and makes a mockery of things. Jappa just makes various excuses, such as being affected by a voodoo curse that someone casted on him, which often then sends him into a panic.

Bak Bak Van Bak: Is just one of the 3 brothers who is in search of something too sacrifice, to be specific, a human. He wants to do this in hopes of bringing a form of prosperity to his own life. Just like his other two brothers he isn't very smart, but he is the most mischievios of the group and the most self centered. During the Jappa and Kieths filming of the infomercial, he tries to devise a plan between his brothers to capture them.

Dook Dook Van Dook: Is the most is known as the Gluttonous being in existance, according to his two brothers anyway. He is considered to be the dummy of the group, but what he loses in brains he makes up for with his monstrous strength and the ability to consume almost anything. Though he does understand his brothers speech, his own is usually made up of grunts, moans and yelps. But within his soul lies a heart of gold, for he is the most caring of the three.

Nah Nah Van Nah: He is known as the stump Alchemist of the 3 brothers, why? Because he's the short and smart. He is actually quite down to earth, but he does experience a sudden acceleration in his speech when he gets exited about his crazy theories on the crazy experiements he creates ofetn resulting in hilarious accidents on himself and his brethren.

Phew! Heh think I'm running out on biography ideas, don't you think?

Scotsman Conceptaulization Head

Right finally managed to develop some sketches of the heads of the scotsman. The scotsman is basically a grumpy sxity year old man who suffers from narcolepsy and has a short fuse. Although he does have a love and passion for ancient ruins, tombs and he is very serious when it comes to survival. After taking these characteristics into consideration I began doodling the possibilities. I dunno why but I thought a character with a big looking nose would be appealing to the audience, I really like the head in the middle but, it makes him look French rather than Scottish. I decided to then make the nose rounder, when I showed my friend this he started cracking up, and said he liked it especially the bush underneath which makes it look a bit phallic.
This is a good thing so at least I know the appeall is there.
However the naked eyes was to me not making the character "complete", he needed to have some sort of intelligence to him. So I thought the most overused thing that makes people seem intelligent or geeky is glassess. This made me like the design of him even more because it just adds a lot more emphasis to this intelligent element about him. Well 1 down 4 more to go!
Haven't thought of a name yet, hmm....how does Keith wet blanket or maybe wet biscuit Mcgee sound?

Whose Line informercial

Here's one of my favourite shows Whose Line is it anyway. This clip shows the two actors Colin the bald headed one and Ryan the tall one improvise a scene about an infomercial on hair removal.

The Breif Infomercial

Well since my tutor Jared has given me the go ahead I' ll review what it is that I going to try and achieve.

1. The Breif I have chosen is brief C, but it isn't going to be an advertisement but an informercial. The purpose of this informercial is to have to characters dicuss and demonstrate the equipment that is necessary to survive in an Aztec temple. I'm not entirely sur who the second character will be but I'm certain that it will have the Scotman in there, but there will be slight changes to his personality and possibly what motivates him. The idea came from a comedy show called, Whose line is it anyway. The show consists of four actors, that are given different scenarios to act and improvise in. The shows intended audience is, I would say for early teens and upwards. My informercial isn't ment to be taken seriously, it's a spoof.

2. The first stage of this is 2D conceptualization, it will consist of designing 5 characters, each with their own biography, models sheets and expression sheets. Afterwards I'll chose the two that I like the most and model them. Modelling is a skill that I'm not aquainted with very well so, it will be some good practice. Also some rough sketches of some Aztec temple and some research in what location they are found in wouldn't hurt, I don't think. The look of it I'm not entirely sure but I'm thinking towards a cartoony, comic book style.

3. Learning outcomes for me personally is to design a character effectively, by this I mean not to just design the character on a whim. I want the audience to get what it is that I am trying to put across with the character that I'm designing, for example is he or she flirty, angry, brave, scary intelligent etc. Next learn how to model to a good standard using a variety of techniques, methods and effects to overcome any problems that I'll encounter (there will be loads). Finally learn how to manage myself like scheduling planning etc.

Phew!

A new start on a new project

This blog will be dedicated to the inspiration and creation of my two characters, howvere I don't know their names yet but I will. After having a week to decide what option to choose I chose option C. Where you have to create some characters for an advertisement, but with the flexability of this project, I decided to make an advertisement on the equipment you need to survive in an Aztec temple. Hopefully Jared, my tutor will approve.
